God Save the Queen! Happy birthday!

What a day!

I can't believe I am still awake right now! I woke up bright and early at 4:15am so that I could go and celebrate with thousands of others the Queen's birthday! But it was so worth it. I woke up at 4:15 and we finally made it to the bus stop at 5:15am. Then made it through the tube station and in front of Buckingham Palace by 6:15am. Then we sat and waited for a few hours. Until a really nice guard informed us that we would not be allowed to keep our spots right by the gate. They said that we would have to go behind the barriers. I was thankful we did honestly because even though we were further back we still had some really good pictures from where we were and met some awesome people.

We moved to the barrier which gave us a very good view of the balcony, where the famous pictures of the wedding, and other celebrations are taken. Then we also had a good view of the Queen Victoria statue in the middle of the track that goes around Buckingham Palace. While waiting we saw the police that would keep the crowds in check, we also saw the famous Bearskin hat guards. Which I learned are the Grenadier Guards. Of course we could hear the bands playing and warming up. It was so cool to see all of the different bands go by and playing different pieces as well. When the royal family came out I was so surprised and just in awe. First came out Princess Catherine, Camilla, and Prince Harry. Followed by Beatrice, Eugenie in the next carriage. Followed by another carriage and then another group of guards. Then came the Queen. She was gorgeous as always and was sporting another awesome hat. She always looks like she has so much fun and loves her time there. She waved and was sitting next to Prince Phillip. They were on their way to the Trouping of Colors. Finally behind them were Prince William and Prince Charles. Then we played the waiting game as the Queen was at the Trouping of Colors. We watched the cleaners clean the road and tried to stay warm as we got ready for them to come back through. On their way back through it was the same order. It again was just so cool to see them all together and happy. Then they went inside the palace and went to the balcony. It was weird that the family actually went up onto the balcony before the Queen was even inside. It was cool to see on the balcony Prince William was carrying baby George. It was such a heartwarming sight to see the whole royal family together. Then when the Queen joined everyone on the balcony they did the 41 gun salute and then of course the famous fighter jets went overtop. It was just so amazing. I do not regret the decision of waking up at 4 am to go and see this.

Then we struggled our way through center London till we finally made it to a less crowded underground station and then finally made it back to Hammersmith and back to Roehampton!

It was such an amazing day. Tomorrow I hope to relax and sleep in (it would be very nice).

Until Then!
